Tigermania and the OMYGA is about a golf program that mainly serves African American youth but is open to all youth. The program, the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association (OMYGA), operates in Orlando and began in 1991, long before the emergence of Tigermania in 1996. OMYGA had a humble beginning with four youth and has grown to almost ninety participating annually.

About the Author

Dr. T. J. Dorsey, an Orlando dentist, is founder and executive director of the Orlando minority Youth Golf Association.

According to Dr. Dorsey, "Learning the rules and techniques of playing golf is directly related to learning how to succeed in life."

Named the "Banks/Dorsey" technique, honoring his longtime mentor and "Guru," he teaches the golf swing with a simplified sequence that required a strong belief system, patience, faith, and practice.
