A troubled dog, a bewildered human - both overwhelmed by our personal plights. Neither of us understood or welcomed the situation we found ourselves in. I set out to get a well-trained, calm, and reliable watch dog. The dog I got instead was an emotional train wreck, leaving me somewhat in shock. I was clueless as to what to do about it. That I wasn't up to the task goes without saying.

Would keeping this dog be a truly regrettable decision? Was I being hopefully stubborn or hopelessly stupid in my determination to help this emotionally challenged canine? It didn't make any sense, but the look in that dog's eyes seemed to pierce my heart and I saw no other way out.

The Zena Chronicles is a roller coaster ride of joys and heartbreaks that range from good to bad to ugly and everywhere in between. How much of a success story it is depends on personal interpretation. It is truly a love story that gingerly unfolded in spite of the emotional turbulence that raged inside both dog and human.
