5.0 out of 5 stars: Quiet strength is underrated

I like quiet people. I like their stillness because it actually sets them apart. That is why I liked this book so much. The Quiet Climb reframes introversion as a leadership strength rather than a limitation. The book argues that listening, empathy, and inner conviction can be as powerful as charisma and noise in guiding teams and building businesses. I personally agree with the often-stated traits of leadership as being outgoing, high energy, even loud. What this book reminds us of is the quiet leader - calm, confident, and guided by deep inner conviction. It reminds me of Richie McCaw, the All Black captain who led with determination and example, not volume.
Two chapters especially struck me. "The Myth of the Loud Leader" questions the dominance of extrovert ideals in leadership, highlighting reflection and patience - qualities that resonate with aura. Later, "Rewriting the Narrative - From 'Too Quiet' to Powerful" challenges cultural labels of being "too quiet," showing how language and identity intertwine. As someone interested in culture and reo (language), I found this perspective useful.
This isn't just a business manual; it's a reminder that leadership has many forms. Quiet leadership, when authentic, can carry as much mana (power, authority) as the loudest voice, if not more so.
4.0 out of 5 stars: Encouraging book

It's an encouraging book for introverts in leadership positions. Some of the real life examples are arguable in terms of whether they can really be considered introverts but they do showcase the skills the author is trying to communicate. There is good practical advice (like the bullet points) but some advices are also pretty general like "be authentic." Overall I'd say this book is for introverts who need assurance in who they are and could use the encouragement.

This book gave me a new perspective on leadership. I've always believed you need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impact, but the author flips that idea on its head. The real-life stories and practical advice show how listening, patience, and empathy can be powerful tools for leading others. I found myself nodding along and even re reading some sections because they hit so close to home. It's not just theory it's something you can carry into your everyday life and career.
