Ivo Moncrieff has arrived in London for the first time to visit his glamourous aunt and uncle for Christmas. He is waiting on the tube platform when a stranger thrusts a mysterious object into his hand, desperately muttering some unfamiliar words to him. On board the Tube moments later, the carriage next to Ivo's is overcome with panic and when they enter the next station the passengers disembark to find that the stranger's body has been brutally dismembered.

Ivo guesses that perpetrators must want the object, and if they find out he has it, he will be their next target. But the attack on the tube is part of a larger scheme to bring chaos to the heart of London. As the capital seems in danger of sliding into anarchy, Ivo faces a race against time to break the ancient power of the Liberators, a power that has lain dormant for centuries but now threatens to destroy society itself.

Philip Womack has written a gripping and thought-provoking tale that entertains at the same time as it explores what it means to be human and to be free.

About The Author: Philip Womack was born in 1981 in West Sussex. He was educated at Lancing and Oriel College, Oxford. He now lives in London, in a converted school with enormous windows. It can get quite cold.
Industry Reviews
'A skilfully woven adventure ... Philip Womack is an author to be watched' Literary Review 'A page-turner ... Womack sets his story against a background of the current fear of terrorism and the panic of the financial meltdown, merging the very real world with the fantastical with great success' The Daily Mail 'From the opening page, Philip Womack's fabulous second novel, The Liberators seizes the reader by the hand and hurtles them onwards, upwards and sideways in a pacy, deftly woven adventure that is at once firmly rooted in reality ... Womack writes with great skill, empathy and verve, and this book will leave 10-to-13-year olds mesmerised' The Telegraph 'A well-written and well plotted supernatural thriller ... This is a proper copper-bottomed magical story of the kind once written by Alan Garner and John Masefield, and it uses the sinister side of Greek myth with brio ... Children of 10+ will love its mix of modern violence and ancient myth' The Times
