This book bought as a gift for my best friend who recently had a baby and who is a first time mum. An excellent no-nonsense, no-fuss guide for new mothers

5

If you're looking for a practical guide that avoids the cautionary, anxiety-ridden, fear-mongering tendencies of blog sites, well-meaning friends and family and those who proffer (unsolicited) advice upon seeing a pregnant woman, then this is is for you. Midwife Cath gives useful, relevant and researched advice in a non-judgmental manner. I highly recommend this guide for new mothers and those feeling a little daunted about caring for a little human who seems impossibly fragile.

Good book for mums to read before any baby

4

Excellent advice on routines for women about to become mothers for the first time or subsequent newborns; and great for the partners to read too. Full of practical, hands on advice and structure for settling newborns. Excellent advice on mixed bottle and breast feeding which is hard to come by these days even though it's so common to combination feed.

Useful for first-time parents

4

Great information and advice, especially for first-time parents. Gives recommendations for newborn feeding and sleep routines but is less strictly structured than other texts like Save Our Sleep. References and info are Australian.
