"I really loved reading this one. The author has an excellent grasp of characters; every single one feels incredibly real, complete with quirks and flaws that you never think about until you see them on the page. The best part is that those quirks aren't just the same stereotypical quirks you see in every other dystopian novel. Her settings are just as detailed, coming to life right before your eyes as she takes you around Cavington, the castle, and the surrounding areas. I felt like every scene was very well grounded in their respective settings, which just bolstered everything else. The story was really clever without being inaccessible, and the action was great. A lot of books are really vague in the way they describe fight scenes, but EM made sure it was easy to follow without being dry.
