The boy she was certain about just told her the truth—he was never hers to begin with.
Three weeks ago, a gray-eyed stranger pulled Ellyce and Benson out of their world and into a war. Now she's a prisoner in a crumbling tower, forced to read her father's books day after day to prepare for a battle she never wanted, while back home, half of Hayvenhurst has vanished underground to live among monsters, and a rising power called the Congregation tightens its grip on everything left standing.
Ellyce can live with the war. What she can't live with is what Benson finally admits—he isn't her bashert. He never was.
The future she always imagined was never hers to begin with.
According to Benson, the soulmate chosen for her is someone else—the last person she would ever choose, and someone she has every reason to fear. But there's no time to fall apart. The Congregation came for power once before and now their master is hunting the seven keys that open the realms. If he breaches the gates out of order, every realm falls. Ellyce and Benson have to get there first.
But then, Sydney Parker drops a bombshell that changes everything, and Ellyce realizes saving the realms may cost her far more than her life.
There will be a war. There will be a wedding. Choose whom you will serve.
