Brazilian native Summer certainly thought she had it all. She’s gorgeous. She’s a highly compensated executive at an upstart Richmond, Virginia video production firm. Her boyfriend is a public relations executive at the local gas utility. He is handsome, rich, charismatic, and debonair. He wants to marry her. She is very skittish about marriage. And that’s where the trouble begins.

She had spent her childhood in Brazil seeing her alcoholic father verbally and physically abuse her mother. Fearful of the same thing happening to her, she would not commit to marrying any man, at least not now. But her boyfriend is tired of waiting.

He breaks up with her, choosing instead to date her immoral co-worker. This sets into motion a series of unfortunate setbacks for Summer. Feeling a loss of self-worth, she sets out to reclaim her man, only to see her life further spiral out of control.
