In Kenya, indoor and outdoor air pollution levels of over 5500 and 440 micrograms /m3 have been registered. This is causing climate change and respiratory diseases such as obstructive respiratory pulmonary diseases and asthma, thereby increasing the already high burden of environmental and occupational diseases. This can be improved if policies are formulated using local research evidence on environmental quality and health. This work focuses on baseline status of air pollution, occupational health and safety, and climate change as a basis for a collaborative empirical Global environmental and occupational Health (GEOHealth) research and training Hub for policy in Kenya and the Eastern African region.
