Anh Do
He is the brother of film director Khoa Do and has acted in several of Khoa's films, including Footy Legends, which he co-wrote and produced. In 2012, his TV show Anh Does Vietnam began airing.
What kinds of books does Anh Do write?
He writes a mix of adult memoir/nonfiction (notably The Happiest Refugee) and many children's and middle-grade fiction series such as WeirDo, Skydragon, Wolf Girl, Ninja Kid, E-Boy, Rise of the Mythix, Pow Pow Pig, Smarty Pup and The Champ.
Where should I start with his books?
For adults start with The Happiest Refugee. For younger readers begin with the first book of a series (examples on the page: Skydragon: Sky Dragon - Book 1; WeirDo - Book 1; Ninja Kid: From Nerd to Ninja - Book 1).
Are The Happiest Refugee and The Little Refugee about the same story?
Yes — both recount his refugee journey. The Happiest Refugee is his full memoir (My Journey from Tragedy to Comedy) and The Little Refugee presents the same true story in a form aimed at younger readers.
Does Anh Do write book series and are there box sets available?
Yes. The author has many numbered series (WeirDo, Wolf Girl, Skydragon, etc.) and boxed sets listed on the page, for example the Wolf Girl five-book box set, The Amazing Worlds of Anh Do five-book set and a Pow Pow Pig three-book box set.
Is there a recommended reading order for his series?
Yes — read each series in publication/number order. Most of his children's series are numbered (Book 1, 2, 3…), so start with the series' Book 1 and follow the sequence.
