Stuff From My Head: Volume One is a collection of eight genre-spanning stories-science fiction, fantasy, crime, and horror-each with its own world, voice, characters, and dangers, but all driven by imagination, tension, and heart.
Inside these pages, sabotage becomes something far stranger than anyone expected. Lost things refuse to stay lost. Prophecy carries a price. Technology begins asking uncomfortable questions. Old horrors wait patiently in the dark. And sometimes the most dangerous thing in the room is the person everyone has overlooked.
Across eight stories, readers will encounter political sabotage, strange technologies, dangerous prophecies, haunted mysteries, dark investigations, impossible choices, and characters trying to survive worlds that rarely behave the way they should. The collection moves freely between humor, suspense, wonder, dread, and emotional stakes, giving each story its own identity while keeping the focus firmly on character and imagination.
Some stories are strange. Some are dark. Some are funny when they probably shouldn't be. Some burn fast; others settle in quietly and refuse to leave.
This isn't a collection built around a single genre or a single kind of reader. It's for anyone who enjoys stepping into an unfamiliar world, meeting people worth caring about, and wondering what might be waiting around the next corner-or on the next page.
Volume One opens a genre-crossing collection built for readers who like variety, atmosphere, unexpected turns, memorable characters, and stories that don't always behave themselves.
Open the cover. Step inside.
You never quite know what you're going to find when it comes from somebody else's head.
Imagination is the only limitation.
Industry Reviews
OMG!! I absolutely loved the concept behind this collection. Rather than staying safely within one genre, Daniel North throws open the doors and invites readers into science fiction, fantasy, crime noir, and horror, each story with its own distinct personality. The foreword promises "the weird, the wild, and whatever lives between," and that's exactly what this book delivers.
What impressed me most was how confidently the author shifts gears. One moment I was laughing at the wonderfully absurd humor and witty dialogue of Laser Tag and Other Acts of Political Sabotage, and the next I was pulled into darker, more suspenseful territory. The voices never felt repetitive, and each story had its own identity while still feeling unmistakably like the work of the same storyteller.
Daniel North clearly has an incredibly active imagination. The worlds are vivid, the pacing is consistently engaging, and there is a cinematic quality to many of the scenes that made them easy to picture. I also appreciated that the stories weren't simply exercises in clever twists-they were driven by interesting characters and genuine emotion, exactly as the author describes in his foreword.
As with any anthology, I naturally connected with some stories more than others, but that's part of the appeal. There really is something here for almost every speculative fiction reader, and I enjoyed discovering which worlds resonated with me the most.
If you enjoy collections that aren't afraid to jump between genres while delivering entertaining, imaginative stories, Stuff From My Head is well worth picking up. I'll certainly be interested to see what future volumes bring.
