Their brother is invisible; they must travel to Elizabethan times and find the key to saving him. If they don't, he will surely die.

The three Baxter children know they must work together as a team when they go back in time to the Sixteenth Century, but after a series of dramatic events, they become separated - then stuck! How will they ever get back to their own time?

Along the way, they meet several historical figures from the Elizabethan period, including the Queen of England, Robert Cecil and William Shakespeare. They all have a part to play in this exciting adventure story, but danger lurks all around! After all, the Elizabethans were renowned for hatching plots.

This stand-alone story is the second novel in the 'Stuck' series. It blends actual events and historical figures with fiction to create an exciting adventure story featuring the Baxter children.

Like all of the books in the series, Stuck 1595 can be enjoyed by children 8+, but adults will be engrossed too! If you enjoy books like 'A Traveller in Time' by Alison Uttley or 'Elizabethan Time Travel Series' by Morgan O'Neill, you will love this story.

Industry Reviews

What an fascinating and intricate plot! At one point I could not begin to imagine how the characters were ever going to get back. Thoroughly enjoyed this book

It was only days ago that I finished book one in this unusual series but I was straight on to book two and loved it. I am so glad I discovered this author, as he certainly knows how to keep the reader hooked, unlike history teachers.

This was another amazing instalment of the Stuck series. I loved the theme of this book. It introduced more historical figures with the Baxter children and their uncle. This book is second in a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I would recommend reading them as a series because they are all so good, I can't pick a favourite.

Descriptions of dress, settings manorial estates, Elizabeth l's fatal make up, mention of growing intrigue referring to Guy Fawkes are described with pace and a sure hand based on meticulous research of the period. Exciting stuff - a good read.

...But Johnson didn't simply name-drop historical icons throughout the book - he taught readers about the quality of life, significance of these figures, and current inventions of the late 1500's. Thanks to Johnson's inclusion of research and talent of weaving information into climactic moments, readers will learn lots about the time period without getting bored or confused.
