Of all the knowledge that a good luthier one who makes stringed musical instruments can possess, knowledge of proper setup is far and away the most important. Proper setup can change a clunker into a good workman bass. It can transform a very good bass into a superb, world-class instrument.

String Instrument Setups: 10 That Will Make Your Instrument Sound Louder, Better, and Easier to Play is designed to be an encyclopaedia of all the latest knowledge on the things that can improve the sound of string instruments. Chuck Traeger shares his 40 years of lutherie knowledge and experience, describing his discoveries in what he calls Traeger s Principle, the basic principle of how these instruments actually function when they are being played. He provides ten simple setups to individual parts of stringed instruments that will greatly enhance the sound and playability.
