'Stolen' : the Max Quillan Quartet, contains four thrilling mysteries solved by historian turned sleuth, Max Quillan, set in Paris, Edinburgh and Dundee. Previously published and now brought together for the first time in an ebook. The crimes involve the thefts of a Holy relic revered by millions, the oldest Crown Jewels in the world, an attempt to kill four famous crime writers and a groundbreaking technique to generate holograms of famous people that has been acquired by murder. The stories take the reader behind the scenes in apartment life in Paris; into the historic vaults of Edinburgh Castle (with a cameo appearance by the King); into the ingenious crimes against crime writers motivated by an evil genius; and behind the scenes at Dundee's iconic V&A Museum which is about to be the victim of local popstars turned gangsters.
The four stories follow Max's personal journey. He became a historian because he got a good degree in the subject but has become increasingly unhappy in this role. His failed marriage to a Frenchwoman has left him seeking a new role and he now fills his days as a temporary lecturer in UK and France, but crime seems to follow him around. After finding the stolen Turin Shroud in Paris, he moves temporarily to Edinburgh where he went to school. He becomes involved with Rosie, a lady KC who is defending the men who stole the historic Crown Jewels of Scotland, but it is Max who discovers where they are hidden. He follows this by foiling the attempted murder of four famous crime writers but it costs him his relationship with Rosie. Offered a post in Dundee's prestigious V&A Design Museum he woos vivacious dentist Lucy Donaldson and helps her policeman brother unmask a murderous plot to steal AI software. The book ends with Max and Lucy married and ready to solve another mystery in the sequel 'Stolen Souls'
