When an attempt at using magic to save a life goes catastrophically wrong, she finds the very threads of her life entangled with those of Radyn Halstraad, the son of her family's ancestral rivals. Unable to find a solution to the problem among the Steelfated, they are sent seeking outside help. Eventually, the Fey Court offers a solution, albeit a solution no mortal has undergone in almost three millennia. But bargaining with the Fey might prove to be more dangerous than dying.
