Troy Nixon's life has never been the same after a murderous psycho shot him and killed his beloved wife, Gabby, on board the Paradise Cruise Ship Electric Emerald. He's always worked hard to do his best as the ship's Security Chief, but his life takes a turn when his children and former parents-in-law come on board to spend some time with him. He sees his children growing up without him in their life. They need him and he needs them. His time on board the ship is coming to an end with a whole world of unlimited possibilities waiting for him on the other side.

His world gets thrown into fresh turmoil when the company's new health and safety office comes on board to investigate all the recent injuries, crimes, and fatalities. These disasters have occurred under Troy's watch. Troy immediately comes to loggerheads with Lauren Northrup when she seems to imply that he neglected the ship's safety and allowed these catastrophes to happen, including the shooting that injured him and killed Gabby.

Troy and Lauren are forced to work together under the most stressful circumstances, only to discover that they trust each other in ways they never thought possible.
