Sinister Wisdom 136 pays tributes to past and present lesbian and feminist icons. Opening with a tribute to the feminist journal IKON including a robust history of the journal by editor Susan Sherman and reflections on it by Jan Clausen, Gale P. Jackson, Demetria Martinez, and Margaret Randall, Sinister Wisdom 136 also features incisive essays by Shariananda Adamz on Aretha Franklin and Vagia Kalfa on lesbian literature in Greece as well as a selection of writing about lesbian pulp novels.
Continuing Sinister Wisdom's tradition of preserving lesbian-feminist history, the issue features a selection of an oral history interview with Linda Bryan by Dartricia Rollins about Charis Books and More. Two art essays complete the issue, one by Cassandra Langer on the art of Samantha Nye and one by Fisun Yalç?nkaya on the art scene in Turkey.
