Shelley Burr
Shelley Burr's upbringing unfolded on Newcastle's beaches, her grandparents' property in Glenrowan, and the road that connected the two. When she isn't immersed in writing, Shelley dedicates her time to establishing a small permaculture farm. Concurrently, she is pursuing studies in agriculture at the University of New England, focusing on soil science. Shelley is an alumna of the ACT Writers' Hardcopy program (2018) and has been a Varuna fellow.
Her novel, "WAKE," not only secured a position as a Top Five bestseller but also claimed the CWA Debut Dagger Award in 2019. The book achieved further acclaim as a finalist for the Indie Book Awards Debut Novel Award, the Kill Your Darlings Unpublished Manuscript Award, and the Bath Novel Award. Adding to her accolades, Shelley received the ABIA's 2023 Matt Richell Award for New Writer of the Year for "WAKE."
