Accomplished tank expert Robert Edwards, a retired American armour officer and former instructor at West Point who has studied armour for decades, offers a comprehensive history of German armoured reconnaissance in World War II. The book begins with an examination of the development of reconnaissance doctrine and then describes how the Germans put theory into practice on the battlefield with infantry, cavalry, fast troops, the Waffen-SS, and Luftwaffe ground formations. All types of armoured vehicles are described and illustrated, such as light armoured cars, command-and-control vehicles, foreign armoured cars used by the Germans, half-tracks, and motorcycles. The uniforms of the reconnaissance troops are covered, as are tactical insignia. The book is illustrated throughout with hundreds of black-and-white photos, many of them rare and never published before, depicting all manner of vehicles, soldiers, and more. One of the highlights of the book is the insert featuring colour diagrams of vehicles. This book is an essential reference for historians, buffs, collectors, and modellers. About the Author Robert Edwards, a retired U.S. Army armour officer, has taught at West Point.He lives in Navarre, Florida.
