Yugoslavia broke apart in the 1990s through a series of civil wars, and by 1999, the war had come to Kosovo. Determined to prevent this, NATO conducted an air campaign to discourage armed conflict.
But what happens when the jets are gone?
Troops need to go on the ground and create the peace that the air campaign birthed. Enter the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) Reconnaissance Squadron - especially the Assault Troop.
This is a collection of short stories from my perspective; from pre deployment through the mission to the return to Canada, and up to the present day. I tell my stories, and compare effective soldiering in 1999 compared to the woke soldiering that exists today.
It is my sincerest wish that everyone can find something in these stories and time-tested values to relate to.
