Following on from the end of Snowgirls the story continues with the restoration of communities after two years of deprivation. Snowgirls ended with Lisle being reunited with her twin sister Michelle at St Raphael on the Mediterranean coast, after travelling with intrepid Heather from Yorkshire by a Fordson tractor.
No mention throughout the earlier stories was made of the British or any other Royal Family's fate. Restored: A Northern Sequel to Snowgirls reveals their fate, from which a new, influential Regal House emerges. The layout of Buckingham Palace is similar but not an exact portrayal of the building. The episode concerning the American President, Fred Fraser was written in November 2016. The novel opens in the St Raphael restaurant La Ronde on the Rue de la Liberation, where Michelle works.
