Young, unthinking, and impetuous, Rascal gets swept away by a whirlwind into a forest filled with uncertainty. Injured, but able to walk, he secures a safe place for the night. Jasper, a rabbit, greets him in the morning. He provides breakfast and offers to get Ollie, the farm dog, to help him find his way home. But, Rascal doesn't listen to Jasper's instruction. He wanders away and gets into still more trouble. Fortunately, Ollie arrives in time to save his life. There's a serious discussion about the importance of thinking ahead. Rascal promises to remember this lesson and Ollie leads him home where he shares his adventures, and what he's learned, with his mom.

Rascal’s Trip

Filled with cute, colorful, watercolor illustrations, Rascal’s Trip tells the story of an adventurous little raccoon named Rascal. During an exploration of a ravine near his home, Rascal encounters some challenges that he has to work through. During his adventure he meets some new friends, including Jasper, a very quick little rabbit, and Ollie the farm dog. Through it all, Rascal learns valuable lessons about character. Included in this engaging story are “Things to Think About” that give parents the opportunity to help children make practical application of the lessons in the story. A glossary at the end of the book explains words that enlarge the child’s expanding vocabulary.

The books are delightfully illustrated and promote good character through fun and friendly animal characters who learn important life lessons. The time invested in discussing character and using your core values to make good decisions is time well spent.
