What's the Better Way To Play? The Rainbow comes after the storm. Legend says that there is gold at the end of the Rainbow. In a fun and non-judgement way we explore the different feelings and behaviours of Rainbow Heroes and the Whinger* Ninja. You choose who you want to be. (Whinger* means to complain often and constantly). This story is about giving children and parents the awareness and language to create positive and effective responses to everyday situations. The storms we are referring to are the emotional child behaviour. The Rainbow is about focusing on the positive behaviour, that can come from managing the storm feeling, that happen's with and around children. It is about finding and supporting the Rainbow Hero that is in every child. The key character in the story is the Rainbow Hero. The Rainbow hero know's the best way to play. Through a number of every day situations, the story is able to show where a child can respond as a "rainbow hero" or a "whinger ninja." It introduces the key concept to "stop" in the moment and apply a strategy to calm down - S.B.S! Stop-Breathe-Smile. This create a living language "S.B.S." which can create a different and more positive response. The illustrations are vibrant, colourful and have small details that encourage children, parents and teachers to re-read the book a number of times. The bandana mask at the end of the book are designed to make the conversation about interactive and fun.
