These devices communicate and operate in terms of two binary values '0' and '1' known as binary digits or bits. The bit size of a processor denotes the number of bits that a microprocessor can process. A group of such bits form a word. The microprocessors are classified in terms of word size they can process, for example Intel 8085A is an 8-bit microprocessor and Intel 8086 is a 16-bit microprocessor.
