'What about porn?' I asked innocently. The car swerved.

'Christ,' Stone muttered. 'What about porn?'

He squeezed the bridge of his nose. 'God, I hope not. For one thing, they're sworn enemies.' He slid me a glance before looking away quickly. 'Cross-species relationships exist in the Other.' He cleared his throat. 'So there is cross-species porn. Not that I've seen any.' Lie.

'Truth seeker,' I said in a sing-song voice.

He reddened. After a minute he said, 'I investigated an illegal porn ring. I had to watch it to review the evidence.' He sounded extremely awkward, but his words rang with truth. Hmmm.

'But did you ever watch it on any other occasion?'

He didn't answer, and I snickered. He turned the music on, and I laughed louder. 'You know, having a partner is kind of fun,' I teased.

'Is that what we are, Jinx? Partners?' He turned on the smoulder, his gaze hot and heavy.
