Marina Mernova is a young KGB officer in 1960s Moscow, given the simple mission of finding a missing scientist of high value to the Soviet space programme. She must navigate Russia at the height of the Space Race: a land of rockets and shortages, a Cold War utopia riddled with paranoia and visionary technology that shatters the limits of human life.

Marina will make the ultimate sacrifice, and be reborn as Kosmonaut Zero - a body made of flesh and metal, controlled by drugs and computers, designed to exist in the unknowns of deep space. But will she ever get back to Earth, and her beloved little brother Leon?
