To boldly go where no one has gone before, renowned Star Trek expert Scott Tipton has delved deep into the CBS archives and their treasure trove of photographs, scripts, concept sketches, blueprints, storyboards and memorabilia, to explore how Gene Roddenberry’s utopian vision of the future became a modern myth. Covering all six Star Trek television series and the ten original feature films, the book will examine the far reaching social and scientific optimism that underpins the franchise, dwelling on milestones such as its groundbreaking mixed-race casts and technologies that have since become commonplace, before taking an in-depth look at the making of each series and movie. Painstakingly researched, housed in a sumptuously designed slipcase and featuring fourteen pieces of removable memorabilia, Star Trek Vault will be the ultimate celebration of a pop-culture institution.
