A gripping literary horror novel about the death of a haunted town, for fans of Richard Matheson. Winner of the Aurealis Best Horror 2017.+
A near-deserted town in the middle of nowhere, Nebulah's days of mining and farming prosperity are long gone. One winter solstice the birds disappear. A residual and mysterious mist arrives, and before long the inhabitants of the town learn not to venture out after dark - anyone who does is torn apart by the terrifying ghosts that haunt the mist. Gradually the town is abandoned, until only six remain. Forgotten by the rest of the world, for Nebulah's retired policeman Pete and the small band of survivors, this is the only place they have left. When another of their number dies, Pete receives a warning from a convincing psychic: he will be dead by next solstice - unless he, too, leaves town.
