In Jailbait Justice Hogan asks, if the world as we know it came to an end, would the corrupt and greedy take advantage of the new order to repeat the same old mistakes that brought them riches and power the first time round? Well, maybe not. Not in Texas. Not if Jezebel Misery St. Etienne and her beloved single-action Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum, Comeuppance, have anything to say about it. In the new world, civilization has been set back 200 years and life is steeped in modern mythology and superstition. Jezebel (first featured in the pages of Pulp Metal Magazine) has grown up knowing nothing else. Despite her meagre stature and juvenile appearance she excels at taking down the unrighteous, levelling the odds for the few decent folk still around. Everyone knows that the rule of law that the Texas Regional Government is reinstating is a bad joke, and Jezebel is going to give them a new punchline. It's only when she meets Alice, who needs safe passage from Austin to Houston, that Jezebel is forced to think beyond the borders of her hometown and her own simple existence. Jezebel and Alice couldn't be more mismatched travelling companions and the road to Houston is fraught with danger, herds of bestial mutants, brutal bandits and agents sent from Houston to hang Jezebel. How will they survive the violence and tragedy forced upon them? And will Jezebel still be able to sleep at night knowing that, above all, her actions are truly righteous?
Industry Reviews
If Lisbeth Salander took a lesson in female emancipation from Tura Satana, she would maybe have ended up something like Jezebel, the flint-assed, funny and endearingly fallible lead in Danny Hogan's fable for our times - Cathi Unsworth
