Danny's cousin Tom has been killed-and forgotten. All memories of Tom have been erased, as though he had never existed. For a while, there is peace. Until Danny remembers.

Determined to restore what has been lost, Danny seeks out Cath, living far from civilization. But other troubles loom. Shadows are spreading across the land, leaving the earth gray and lifeless.
