After a fist stay in Afghanistan working with a French NGO to promote democracy and to help with the local army's recruitment campaign, Nicolas is reunited with the team of colourful expats in a 2005 post-war Afghanistan that remains very unstable. As a privileged observer of the hesitant rebuilding process, Nicolas feels more and more atached to the country and decides to extend his contract despite obvious risks.
