Scrapyard Ship (Science Fiction)"What a Ride!"Lieutenant Commander Jason Reynolds has had a string of bad luck lately-evident by the uncomfortable house arrest bracelet strapped to his right ankle. Worse yet, he's relegated to his grandfather's old house and rambling scrapyard. But It's through a bizarre turn of events that Jason is led to a subterranean chamber hundreds of feet below ground. There he discovers an advanced alien spacecraft that complicates his life further. The adventure begins... and with it new troubles for Jason. Everyone, including his raucous Navy SEAL buddies, is clamoring to fight a new alien interstellar threat. Catapulted into the Captain's chair, Jason's impetuous decision-making certainly makes for danger and excitement. At stake is the very existence of the human race. This is a full-length novel-the first in the science fiction adventure series of Scrapyard Ship.

Reviews:

Wild and fun space opera!
I quite enjoyed this classic space opera novel. I liked its premise of an ancient spaceship hiding underneath a scrapyard in California, with a former Navy Seal being the guy who takes command of a super-dreadnought ship that has to face off against an invading fleet of 500 Craing Alien warships. What seems unbelievable space combat does work out, with a few special Techy devices in use only by our hero and his spaceship The Lilly. The supporting characters include a bunch of humanoid Aliens plus some family members. There is the start of a romance with an Alien woman crew member whilst the guy's ex and his young kid are on board his ship. Nice complication. Really really liked the 10-year-old girl daughter of the hero. All in all, this was Wild As A March Hare space combat lightened with some humor, some real-world relationships, and an Earth turned upside down by an Alien attack. Nicely done. Highly recommended.- T. Jackson King

Scrapyard Ship by Mark Wayne McGinnis
And what a ship it is! And a Hotel, a hospital, a cafeteria. I gotta get me one of these ships! I wouldn't have to work for the man anymore with this vessel. This book 1 of the series is a great military scifi read. Full of discovery. A scifi adventure into the unknown. One man thrown into a quest he'd rather not obey, but if he refuses, he gets no cake for dessert. So on he goes, to battle, to war, to survive for the cake and his family and friends, the entire world of earth. The bad guys are continually knocking at his door. Come get some!- Mike Moondog

Great Science Fiction Space Opera, Must read!
I expected the same old adventure scifi story but was pleasantly surprised. Great characters. Nice storyline. Moves really fast.
Couldn't put it down too until I finished it.- Geraldine

Phenomenal Writing !!! This is a must-read scifi space opera series !!!
This book was so incredibly written that I couldn't put it down. I was so thoroughly engrossed in it that I read it in 2 days. I have trouble understanding why some gave it such bad reviews since this series is what creativity is all about. My only complaint is that I wish the author would write faster because I feel like a crack user jonesing for his next fix. Ha ha ha. Great job Mark and keep the novels coming!- Joan of Art

Fun and easy to read and Enjoy!
I enjoyed reading this first episode of the SCRAPYARD SHIP series - and could identify with it from half a century back when I was a boy. I often visited a junkyard next to my grandmother when I stayed weekends with her. I would climb around old parts from oilfield plants, which were very easily turned into rockets and flying saucers in my mind. McGinnis has gone far beyond that with great story series - Great Fun Scifi to read and relax with. It was well thought out - keeping you on the edge quite often. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Mark Wayne McGinnis - Thanks!- Mike Nichols
