Practical Magic 2 (Film Tie-In)

For the Owens family, love is a curse that began in 1620 when Maria Owens was abandoned by the man she loved and tried for witchcraft.

Centuries later, in a library in Cambridge, Massachusetts, seventy-eighty-year old Jet Owens hears the call of the deathwatch beetle, signaling that she has only seven days to live. She spends her final days with her sister Franny, whose good cheer never relents; and her beloved nieces: Sally, who has been burned by the curse twice, and wears black to mourn the men she has lost; and Gillian, who keeps the love of her life, Ben, at a great distance to protect him. Just as Jet resigns to death, she discovers The Book of the Raven, a grimoire of left-handed magic so perilous, every page is inflamed. Within its pages lies the secret to breaking their family’s curse once and for all—but Jet is out of time to help, so must leave the book for her sister Franny to discover.

The new Owens generation is neither aware of the family’s lineage of witchcraft, nor of its curse: Sally’s daughter, Antonia, is a medical student, and Kylie, an undergraduate at Harvard. When Kylie’s boyfriend Gideon falls into a coma after they declare their love for each other, Kylie feels she is to blame. In search of answers, she discovers her family curse and flees to Europe to uncover its origin. Soon she finds herself turning to left-handed magic so she may save the one she loves. But in doing so, she threatens to destroy everything the Owens clan has fought so hard to protect, setting off on a stunning adventure that brings together three generations of Owens women—and one long-lost brother.

Practical Magic 2 is a breathtaking and masterful conclusion to the beloved Practical Magic series, reminding us once and for all that the only cure for love is to love more.
