With Lansdale the story is everything. And this is a horror story to make you laugh until you feel guilty about mocking the afflicted. Bill plans a robbery that goes comically wrong, and ends up with a freak show on his hands. There's a dog-faced boy, a bearded lady and the most gorgeous girl in the world married to a man with a hand sticking out of his chest. Lansdale just keeps on turning out amazing novels, and this one is no exception. (Kirkus UK)
