A Tale of Time City

This is a great book and will be read with glee by young teenagers thirsting for fantasy and adventure. The idea of travelling through time and space is endlessly fascinating so when Vivian, an evacuee from London in 1939, finds herself whisked away to TIme City, she accepts it with all the curiousity and courage every reader imagines possessing. Teamed up with Jonathon, a boy from Time City, Vivian gives up plotting her return to the century and starts to realise there is an enormous problem threatening not only her world but all of history and the chronology of time itself. The Time Patrol are responsible for making sure that history happens in its proper sequence (they already know the future and they have to ensure that each stage happens at its appointed time so that the next stage can be reached). But thieves are after government of Time CIty itself and they have sent history into chaos. The plot is complicated but becomes clear as the story unfolds. There are wonderful characters but best of all is the description of Time CIty itself, a place which becomes etched in the mind like Narnia, a place you've always known exists. Given a willing suspension of disbelief this book is a cracking good read. (Kirkus UK)
