Science fiction novel, the first of the Orphans trilogy. The members of a survey team are sent from Earth in 2053 to Adrasteia, 75 light years away. The team consists of 'engrams', copies of earth-bound people. An alien race called 'spinners' suddenly arrives promising enormous advances for humanity. Dix lives in Adelaide and has been writing fiction since he was fifteen. Williams who also lives in Adelaide has published over fifty short stories and the award-winning 'Metal Fatigue', 'The Resurrected Man', 'The Stone Mage and the Sea'. They previously collaborated on the Evergence trilogy and are writing th Star Wars: Force Heretic trilogy.
