Frayling's The Face of Tutankhamun differs other volumes devoted to the cult of Tutankamen in concentrating not on the boy-pharaoh himself, but on the impact of his discovery on a western society recovering from the devastation of the Great War. Of particular interest is the consideration given to the ethical propriety of exhuming the long dead, an uncomfortable subject that egyptologists usually prefer to avoid. (Kirkus UK)
