Wicca has changed my life - I've lost my best friend and made some new friends. I've discovered my true heritage. I've found love - and betrayal. But I have so much more to learn and I know Wicca can be used for good or for evil. The hard part is knowing which is which. Morgan knows now she is a blood witch. But she doesn't know who or what to trust - except her magick.
Industry Reviews
Morgan is a teenage witch living in upstate New York. Her preferred breakfast is pop-tarts and Diet Coke, and when the story opens Morgan has narrowly avoided being burned to death by her ex-boyfriend Cal. Teenager Cal is also a witch (of the black magic variety, it turns out) who needed Morgan's dead mother's witchcraft equipment to assist his spells, which is why he was trying to turn his girlfriend into another pop-tart. And this is where the story really begins. Morgan's hunky teenage neighbour Hunter just happens to be a witch too, though on a higher plane, and using lots of recruits from school they initiate a new coven given over to white magic. This group in its turn is the key for lots of sloppy adolescent crushes and heavy breathing - though nothing more elemental than that, thank Wicca. Then after an intricate bit of sub-plot involving some downtown real estate and a bag of muffins, stupid Morgan realizes that she loved Hunter all the time. The plot involving the wicked Cal completely disappears, never to resurface, which is something of a fatal weakness in the story, another being that Morgan is remarkably dumb for someone with the select mystic powers ascribed to her. Adequate entertainment for youngish girls on a rainy afternoon, but no more than that. Ages 10+ (Kirkus UK)
