In this third book in the Wicca series, 16-year-old Morgan and her mysterious boyfriend Cal are again the central characters. Through Cal, Morgan has been introduced to the ancient religion of Wicca and discovers that she is drawn to it with a ferocity that she cannot explain. Her parents' anger and horror at this fascination only serves to confuse her further, but when they are forced to reveal secrets about her adoptive childhood and her true mother she finally understands the forces that have been driving her. With the encouragement of Cal and the reluctant support of her parents, Morgan begins to explore the world of Wicca and the boundaries of her dormant magick. With the help of friends she forms a coven where they practise the soothing and healing powers of Wicca, but when two strangers arrive in town - Sky Eventide and Hunter Niall - things begin to go strangely wrong. Friends begin to turn against friends; Morgan is convinced that someone is trying to harm her and suspicions are cast on her relationship with Cal. The lines between good and bad become seriously blurred until Morgan finds herself in a fight between the two. Will she make the right decision? Tiernan keeps the story as dramatic and exciting as its predecessors, and the sensitively observed relationships between the characters add depth. An accomplished and enjoyable tale for teenagers.
