Young Owen Hughes sees Bilk and Prigman, employed by the gold-hungry Marquess of Malyn, steal the Golden Harp of Teirtu (perhaps) from his grandfather's museum and Arabis, a soulful herbalist, sees them hide the instruments from each other, vaudeville-style. The Seljuk of Rum is looking for some of his subjects, lost many generations before, and Brother Ianto of a Chinese monastery is also on the prowl. One by one they come across the Children of the Pit, the Seljuk's now-shrunken subjects unable to devise an escape from their mountain retreat. Although the harp, after changing hands several times, is restored to its master With traditional flourish, the actual field maneuvers are something of a letdown.
