Colin Greenland's 'Plenty trilogy', which started with Take Back Plenty, has featured one of the more interesting of SF's Big Dumb Objects, an alien spacecraft of asteroidal size extruded by giant stick insects like a hive and run by a persona loyal only to the somewhat unreliable Tabitha Jute. In the third Plenty book, Mother of Plenty we return to the cliff hanger that ended Seasons of Plenty; Tabitha has been tricked into taking the craft to Capella, home of the parasitic masters of the universe, who are not especially pleased with her attitude. Rococo complications abound as Tabitha tries to save her own neck, and to a lesser extent the future of humanity. (Kirkus UK)
