She's a rising esports star balancing livestream fame and championship dreams. He's a quiet tech genius who never stopped watching from afar. Pressing start on a second chance won't be as easy as respawning.
Beth Evans has her eyes on the prize. She's training hard for her second world-championship title. She's producing livestreams while cultivating an online community that feels like home. And she's hunting for a new job to keep the bubble tea flowing. Romance? That's one side quest she's happy to put on hold.
Javi Escudeiro has one unfinished build. While repairing computers by day and modding games by night, he's been secretly following Beth's success from behind a screen. Back in high school, she was the girl he couldn't stop thinking about. Now she's the woman he wants to reconnect with-if he can find the courage.
When their worlds suddenly collide, Beth and Javi reboot old memories and unlock new feelings. Can they make up for lost time? Or will their teenage wounds keep them apart once again?
Press Start is a new-adult contemporary gamer romance, written by a former sports journalist. This heart-stopping novel is the second book in the Game Over series and can be read as a standalone. Press Start is a direct sequel to Break the Ice.
What makes this gamer romance unique?
• The female protagonist is a Filipina Canadian. The author draws from her own heritage to bring Beth Evans to life.
• The main characters challenge the stereotypical portrayal of introverted characters by rejecting the "socially awkward" trope. Beth and Javi are confident and charismatic conversationalists-but they still prefer solitude.
• It's not just about love and gaming. It's about discovering your true self. It's about growing up. It's about reinvention.
Not a gamer? Not a problem!
