When people say things did not go according to plan, they usually don't mean they've ended up with a bomb strapped to their chest with only minutes left to save the world.
For Seth Redding nothing ever comes easy. Middle child, flanked by heroes, if there's crap out there, he'll be the one to step in it. The mission was straight forward, simple, as missions go, but as only he could, it'd gotten... complicated.
Unlike his brothers and sister who fought from their heads, Seth fought from the heart. That alone is enough to make war complicated. He was big, strong, well trained, but all the suffering they'd seen and caused weighed on him. He hesitated now, before pulling the trigger, even when his mind knew it was what needed to be done. A bullet fired cannot be taken back.
Those hesitations were what had gotten him here; the price of a moment of hopeful searching for an alternative to the bullet, a moment of mercy in the midst of cruelty, a moment some would deem weakness.
Maybe they were right...
