An enduring and topical picture book about the threat of pollution to our environment.

On the beach, a brother and sister create their own tiny marine world in a bucket. With its wildlife, shells, oil and even a tin can, it is a microcosm of the larger world outside; a world polluted by ocean plastics, deforestation, and the burning of fossil fuels.

With a series of stunning watercolours, the multi award-winning Michael Foreman makes clear his underlying concern about pollution within the environment. 30 years since it was first published, One World is more relevant with every passing day.

"An important book" * The School Librarian *
"No less an impressive statement for being a work of art . . . Foreman's magical blues and yellows and the indefinite lines of his drawing underline the symbolic message . . . A quietly disturbing book this, which I fancy children will help their parents to understand." * The Junior Bookshelf *
"Foreman's characteristically spacious composition and subtly graded washes are in close harmony with his theme of the vastness and fragility of the natural world." * TLS *
"Breathtaking watercolour illustrations weave a touching beachside tale." * Baby Magazine *
