In addition to the work by the artists, curators DA Denckla and Matthew Bussa offer their own interventions and prompts to activate and to enhance readers' creative engagement with the text. Readers are encouraged to "rip, cut, crease, scribble, disregard, destroy, share, and respond." Sources of inspiration for reader instructions trace a tradition of experimental poets and conceptual artists, such as Julio Cortazar's The Instruction Manual, Yoko Ono's Grapefruit or CA Conrad's (Soma)tic Poetry Exercises.
