Five stars - Johny Weber is the best new author I have read this year. This is a historical fiction novel, which is a genre I love. I have lived in the West all of my life, starting on the West Coast then moving to landlocked states near the Rocky Mountains. Much of where Johny writes about, I have either lived or visited. When one of the characters goes to the California Gold Rush, it is like reliving 4th-grade state history and envisioning the area I call home. Most of this story takes place in Colorado, which I have visited many times. Being able to "see" where the story takes place makes it even more interesting.
