In the near future, a sleep epidemic ravages the planet. Its name: Morpheus. Commercial and financial flows are quickly paralyzed, plummeting the world into chaos and forcing subfactions to develop to maintain what fraction of life awaits them in the waking hours. One woman, determined to awaken her fully catatonic daughter, will stop at nothing for a cure.

Five years later, the few cities still standing have become autonomous, reorganizing themselves to optimize the shortened waking hours of their inhabitants.

In Prague, priority is given to the repair and maintenance of the automated systems that ensure the survival of a humanity on life support. Most of the survivors take this bland (unscrewing, soldering, screwing) and limited life as it comes (an average of 4 hours of standby time per day). They are content to exist without thinking about tomorrow.

Others, on the other hand, seek at all costs to give a deeper meaning to their condition. Since science is powerless against the epidemic, they turn to religion. These are the self-proclaimed Trolls, dangerous nihilists who consider the Morpheus to be a divine punishment... Convinced that they have a sacred mission, these Trolls do their utmost to accelerate the collapse of society.

In this morass, a few stubborn individuals maintain hope. This is the case of Juliette, a woman willing to do anything to "wake up" her daughter...even if it means betraying the Prague city that employs her. When Yuri Ivanov, a geneticist, tells her that the key to the cure is probably in Berlin, Juliette does not hesitate to force her hand. She, her daughter, Yuri and her four robot guards leave Prague clandestinely. Together, they cross the endless no-man's land where nature has regained its rights.

On their heels: a Troll squad, a City commando, and the invisible Morpheus who is gaining ground every day. At the end of the road awaits a Berlin laboratory that may have been destroyed long ago, but may also be the only chance to awaken humanity.
