Mine

Although the author William Davis's two novels (the first entitled Mine: Origins and the sequel Mine: Untold Secrets) are separate stories which can be read and enjoyed individually, they should be (as, indeed, the titles suggest and the narrative assumes) read in the order indicated. The first recounts the zoologist Katie Winston's discovery of the remnants of a unique, apelike species living in the in the depths of Brazil's Amazon forest. The second, following Katie's untimely death after returning to North America, details the unanticipated encounter and attempt of her niece (and sole heir) and family (two teen-age daughters) to engage with the uncaged burgeoning clan of unique apish, pre-human creatures. Together they constitute a single continuous and delightfully articulated (although at times rather frightening) narrative detailing the discovery and engagement with these interesting, quasi-human creatures. The story is a fascinating and well-articulated read.

I was unable to put this book down. The perfect amount of suspense and an heart stopping ending. I definitely enjoyed this story.

Great story teller. Really captivating character descriptions. Makes me want to read more from this author. Very suspenseful from the get-go.

I really enjoyed Mine: Untold Secrets. The plot was very interesting and unique and the characters were all quite memorable, good and bad. Kate, the main character has a very good reason to keep her property fenced off from hunters or anyone else. I am now ready Mine: Origins which I wish I had read first because I already know the ending. No huge deal. it's the getting there that is the adventure. I love stories with scientists in the Amazon jungle. Both books are exciting and a great read. Highly recommend. Also, well written and edited, no fluff.

While I liked the premise of the book, and the characters, the dialogue got a little convoluted toward the end. I kept going back a bit thinking I missed something, but it just wasn't there. And it ended abruptly, without answering the questions never explained in the storyline.

A little tweaking and editing, and this could be a much better book.

Just finished this book. This was an edge of your seat story. Characters were good. The one thing I didn't like was the ending. Too many things left unfinished.

Ok, I never expected this in a book. But let me say I absolutely love it. So many surprises from page to page . I finished this book in just a couple hours. I highly recommend this book to anyone who like a little mystery.
