All of us upon remembering a brilliant, quiet, perhaps socially apprehensive classmate in high school have wondered, "I wonder whatever happened to him or her?" This is the story of one of those anonymous wunderkinds.

Mill Hill Scientist is the real-life story of one of these unsung wunderkinds-author James L. Stevens.  The official discovery of the transistor effect the day he was born was a telling indication of the path he was destined to travel. His fascination with the electronic revolution and the Space Race fueled his growing passion to become a scientist.

However, his humble beginnings in a poor family struggling to make ends meet did not provide a smooth road for James' scientific aspirations. But his intellectual giftedness, hard work, and determination, along with the unwavering support he received from his parents, teachers, and mentors, paved his way toward future success.
