The Ml Abrams has proved itself to be the finest main battle tank in the World since its introduction into US Army service in 1981. It combines the ultimate balance between firepower, mobility and protection as demonstrated by its superior performance during the two Gulf Wars and in Afghanistan. It routed the Soviet equipment of Saddam Hussein's army and today remains the yardstick by which friends' and foes' MBTs are judged. Its versatility and continual modernisation of weaponry armour and engineering guarantees that the MI Abrams will remain the US Army's spear point for years to come. Expert author Michael Green has produced a comprehensive collection of images and highly informed text. 250 full colour illustrations

Industry Reviews

"there are some impressive photographs, all have been chosen to tell the story, not just to entertain. Mr Green's text describes the history and service of the Abrams in a readable and accessible style. The book is neither anoracky at one end of the scale or too generic at the other. I think I commented that one of his last books on tanks may have been out of place in the Images of War range and could have been an expanded and glossier history in it's own right. I may have missed the point. Having a book of this quality in this range makes it affordable on one level and it adds a strong degree of credibility to the series on the other."-- "War History Online"
"A good primer for the Abrams, the photos are well chosen and whilst some of the earlier images have been seen in previous publications, many of the more recent ones have not."-- "IPMS/USA"
